TIN, SSM and Peppol

Peppol PINT MY — Malaysia in the global e-invoicing network

What Peppol is, what MDEC's role is and how it differs from MyInvois.

Peppol is an international network for exchanging electronic documents between accredited service providers. The Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) acts as the Peppol Authority for Malaysia, and a Malaysian Peppol profile called PINT MY has been published. Peppol is separate from MyInvois: MyInvois is the LHDN system for tax e-invoices, while Peppol is a delivery network between businesses. Adoption details and how the two systems will connect are still developing, so follow MDEC and LHDN announcements. 4invoices is not a Peppol access point and cannot send documents on the Peppol network.

  • MDEC: Peppol Authority for Malaysia.
  • PINT MY: Malaysian profile of the Peppol international invoice specification.
  • Separate from MyInvois, which is the LHDN tax platform.
  • 4invoices is not a Peppol access point.

How it works

Understand the two systems. MyInvois is where taxpayers submit e-invoices for LHDN validation. Peppol delivers documents between businesses through accredited access points.

Check whether you need Peppol. If you invoice only domestic customers, the MyInvois obligation is the one that matters. Peppol may matter if a foreign or large customer asks for it.

If you do need Peppol, use an accredited access point. The provider handles the network connection and format.

Follow the PINT MY specification. It is published for Malaysia and adapts the international Peppol specification to local data.

Follow official updates. MDEC and LHDN announce how Peppol will relate to MyInvois. Do not assume a connection that has not been announced.

Legal framework

  • OpenPeppol — Peppol network governance and Peppol Authorities.
  • MDEC — Peppol Authority for Malaysia and PINT MY specification.
  • LHDN (IRBM) e-Invoice Guideline — MyInvois requirements.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between MyInvois and Peppol?

MyInvois is the LHDN platform to which taxpayers submit e-invoices for validation. Peppol is a network for delivering documents between businesses through access points. They are separate systems.

What is PINT MY?

PINT MY is the Malaysian profile of the Peppol international invoice specification. It defines the data used for Peppol invoices related to Malaysia.

Do I need Peppol if I sell only in Malaysia?

Not necessarily. Your legal obligation is the MyInvois phase that applies to your turnover. Peppol is an optional delivery channel unless a customer requires it.

Is Peppol mandatory in Malaysia?

Not on the basis of the sources checked for this page. The mandatory system is MyInvois. Check MDEC and LHDN for any new announcement.

Does 4invoices work with Peppol?

No. 4invoices is not a Peppol access point and does not send documents on the Peppol network or to MyInvois. It creates invoices with a tax rate per line, in any currency with an exchange rate, and lets you download a PDF. The trial is free for 6 months without a card.
